Fire loss
Sent to Tax Experts April 12 04:42 PM

We lost our home in the California fires 18 months ago. Everything was a
total loss. We recieved a settlement from the insurance company for the
policy limit on contents but our contents were worth significantly more
($150K) than the settlement. Since we lost everyhting in the fire and have
no proof of contents is there any way we can claim a loss on the
additional contents? We are not looking for a fight with the IRS we just
would like to know if we have any claim at all.

Thank you
